Great Win for Mansle CC Vs Catus CC.

The sun was shining on the Mansle Cricket Ground and was set for a delightful game of cricket again. Juzzy took to the field with Ben, holding his own or scraping through i'm not sure how but staying there for 8 overs almost seeing out the opening bowling attack. After some rain over the past few day the grass had grown slowing the out field and had made it hard to play ground shots. Ben and Remi then took control and hit a few good runs but there was some good bowling slowing the run rate. Quite a few overs had gone before we lost wicket no2 but we were lacking in runs. Remi steadied the team and tried to push the score to over 100 but he was not helped by some cheap wickets making the game really tight. A captains innings was required. Jason tried to push the score unfortunately loosing his wicket while not moving his feet. Zeeshan and Haseeb helped the score before loosing their wickets to the straight ball. In came Leo and he backed up well helping himself to some nice shots on the leg side. Remi could not make it to the end but up stepped Joe but the straight ball again ended our innings (net time for Joe required)

Where do we go from here 136 runs on the board and can we defend.......

We went out to field with some tight fielding and not many runs coming from the first three overs, Catus lost two wickets early and were finding the bowling really tight. Remi, Zeeshan and Ben kept the bowling tight and wickets were hard to take but we made a break through with batsman 3 and 4 just after drinks. Leo bowled really well stopping the scoring with some really tight bowling. Catus were crusing to a easy victory but with 90 odd runs on the board and tactical bowling change made the game tight. A couple of good wickets taken from some leg side bowling surprising wicket keeping from Juzzy taking two great catches behind the stumps and Remi trapped a couple LBW, a good catch taken from leo's bowling in the field slowed Catus to 111 for 8 two batsmen left scores really tight a team talk on the field gave us great spirit to try and defend really hard. A couple of fours and a six saw them getting closer to our total. Batsman 9 lost his wicket to a great ball. Up stepped batsman 11 a couple of good shots saw Catus 128 for 9 we were finding it tough what do we do..... Juzzy suggested bring on Ben instead of Leo from the IOW end to stop them scoring runs, little did we know it would be the winning change. All in all a great game of cricket some excellent fielding and bowling saw us to the first victory of the season.

Well done team.

Mansle CC 136 -all out Catus 130 - all out 29 overs

Welcome win for Mansle.
